The Voice of the Fugitive Newspaper
Canada's first Black newspaper publication
The Voice of the Fugitive was a newspaper published in 1851 by Henry and Mary Bibb intended to serve as an informative source for People of Color fleeing from the United States to Canada.
Henry Bibb also endorsed Upper Canda as a good place for Black refugees to comee to and establish themselves in the newspaper.
This newspaper published articles about laws, the abolition movement, business, and information about resources for refugees coming to Canada.
It became an important source and means for communication during its two and a half years of publication and published until Bibb's death in 1854.
